Today's sports section from 100 years ago included a photo I just couldn't pass up. Too good not to share, whether you're a golfer or not.

The Evening Star asked four Washington DC locals to show their best putting stance for the camera. And for the most part, honestly? Pretty solid. Flat caps, knickers, vintage clubs, real focus. You scroll through and you're nodding along.
The quotes are taking them seriously. Hall Jeschke "takes a stance like this." E.R. Calpin "crouches over a little more." Con Murphy "holds the handle of the club closer to his body."
And then there's Nick Leroy.

“Nick Leroy, who frequents Loeffler's golf pasture. Prefers this pose.”
For the golfers: it's so committed he might actually be onto something. For non golfers, it’s as if he’s about to tip over. A yoga pose that would be tough to hold very long let alone hit a ball where you want to. Either way, try it this week and report back. Or, send it to someone so bad they might just try it.
CUTTING ROOM FLOOR
And because I can't let it go — also in the papers today, May 31st, 1926: the first photograph ever taken of the North Pole area. Captured from the dirigible Norge during the Amundsen-Ellsworth expedition. Published in the Evening Star under the headline "First Actual Picture of North Pole Area."
It is exactly what you'd expect a 1926 newspaper photograph of the North Pole to look like. And it was the most extraordinary thing in the world at the time. Brace yourself.

See you tomorrow.
